This week I attended an excellent seminar on Social Media for libraries, which was organised by the Rare Books Group of the Library Association of Ireland (LAI).
The seminar addressed topics such as: how to choose a social media platform to suit your organisation; tools for analyzing usage of your social media platforms and issues of copyright when posting images on your social media.
One of tools for analyzing social media which were discussed at the seminar were Tweroid, http://www.tweriod.com/ , a tool which allows you to analyze the best time for you to twee, according to your followers.
Social Media is becoming an increasingly important aspect of librarianship and a means of promoting and marketing library services. In my opinion, social media training should be introduced as an aspect of the qualification to become a librarian.
